my person for black history month was madam cj walker && i think she should be celebrated because she has made her own buisness & passed down generations through her family. She even passed it down to her daughter, she took her buisness very seriously & im proud to have done research on her. :)
My person was Marian Anderson. I think she should be celebrated because. Marian was the first African American to perform at the Metropolitan opera in 1955. Also after the daughter's of the American revolution (DRA). Refused Marian Anderson to perform against the racist snubs. Marian made her landmark in front of the Lincoln Memorial. D.B
My Black History Month figure was Henry Ossawa Tanner. I think he should be celebrated because he was the first African American painter to gain international accaim and he has probably inspired others to show them that it doesn't matter what color they are and to follow their dreams and also to never give up on what they love to do. i think Wilma Rudolph should be celebrated for black history month because even when she grew up suffering from polio and was told she would never walk again she pursued her dream and became a track runner. she also managed to compete in the olympics. she had determination and never gave up
My Black History figure was Charles Richard Drew. He researched the field of blood transfusions to improve ways to storage blood. He is known for creating blood banks in World War ll and found ways to keep blood plasma (blood without cells) last for a long time. This caused so many lives to be saved during World War ll because many soldiers died due to a huge lost of blood. He should be celebrated because he saved many lives of soldiers, he improved ways to store blood, and he created blood banks.
josephine baker was the firsf black female to be starred in in a major film called zouzou and the reason why we should celebrate her because back then when did black people ever get the chance to do anything so if i was josephine baker i would want people to celebrate my accomplishment that why i think josephine baker should be celebrated
My Black History figure (Fannie Lou Hamer) should be celebrated because she helped African Americans have the right to vote as well as end racial segregation. She was a part of the SNCC Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee) which helped put together the Freedom Summer African American voting registration in 1964. Her whole life, she stood her ground and fought for her rights as well as her peers. She was shot at, beaten, arrested and threatened but it didn't faze her. She worked hard for equality and that's why I think she should be celebrated.
Eubie Blake was a ragtime pianist and composer for American musicals. Eubie as a child worked hard on his organ and mastered it. I think he should be celebrated because he shows that it doesnt matter what skin color you are to be in the music busness. He is very inspirational because of how far he got with his music. ~Y.L
I researched James bell. I think he should be celebrated because he was one of the best baseball players of all time. Also he showed people that they could do great things if they set there minds to it.
My black history month figure was Booker T. Washington . Booker was the most famous African American in America between 1895 and 1915. Booker should be celebrated because he was the most influential African American educator who controlled black schools and colleges.- Rayania S.
For black history month i chose Louis Joe because he shows me that even though you might be a poor African American person you can still do an effort to find what your good at. He tried violin lessons and art and eventually he chose boxing. Royan Anoh
My black history moth person was Jelly Roll Morton. He was one of the first African American jazz composers. Jelly Roll has his own style of jazz named Jelly Roll jazz. He should be celebrated because he broke boundaries in the jazz community.
I think Alvin Ailey should be celebrated for black history month because he founded Alvin Ailey danced theater in New York. He is credited with making modern dance popular among African Americans. Alvin dance company was one of the most popular dance companies international touring circuit.
My black history month figure was Lena Mary Calhoun Horne , she was born on June 30, 1917 & died on May 9, 2010. Horne was an American singer, dancer, actress, and civil rights activist. A reason why she should be celebrated was that she had help end segregation & make a world a better place then besides being a singer
This month my black history month figure was Countee Cullen. Countee Cullen was a man of poetry & also well known for being one of the major writers of the Harlem Renaissance . He should continue to acknowledged because he was a leading figure in life , the Harlem Renaissance , and in his inspirational poems .
